Discussions on the recent Jan Andolan are very usual and the youth of the nation today, are playing a leading role in such remonstrations. The management students of DIMAT are intensely concerned in knowing the developments in the public space. For keeping the penchant in line DIMAT organized a lecture cum discussion on "Democratic Reforms in India" with special emphasis on "Recent developments in the public space like Corruption and Anna Andolan" by Dr. Vinay Sahatrabudhhe, Director General of Rambhau Mhalagi Prabodhani, a reputed NGO based in Mumbai. Dr. Sahatrabudhhe is a political advisor to BJP president MR. Nitin Gadkari.
Shri S K Jain, Chairman, DES, Shri Umesh Upadhyay, Director, DES, Prof N H Deshpande, Director, Faculty of Management & III and Mrs Tripti Agrawal, Director, Academics, DIMAT, were among the esteemed dignitaries present on the occasion. Students of MBA, PGDM and Engineering streams zealously participated in the discussion.
The discussions took place on how we can fortify the Indian Democracy, what radical changes in our electoral and other egalitarian processes can put things correctly in our system. Dr Sahatrabudhhe made clear that Jan andolans' primary goal is to claim the public space as an alternate democratic praxis and alternate politics and it fortifies India's constitutional democracy rather than weakening it. In a democracy, there has to be a space for Jan andolans to voice public emotion and reactions, when the constitutional methods are seized by a dominant segment of the political class which is steeped in corruption.
